How a single boy spends Valentine's Day.

Another year, another Valentine's Day. If you're like me and seem to spend every Valentine's Day alone, I've decided to save you the agony and provide a 'what to do' list for Valentine's Day in YYC! Just because it's a day for couples and all that super 'thrilling' stuff, doesn't mean you can't have the best time solo. So without further delay, lets talk about all the amazing things you can do on this day of love.

The Esker Foundation.
Fan of art and an even bigger fan of free? stop by the Esker Foundation and check out the amazing new exhibit on a solo-trip through Inglewood on the 14th. Featuring the talents of Kapwani Kiwanga, Dammi I Colori (February 3rd - March 4th), and DaveAndJen. I had the pleasure of going for the exhibit launch and was absolutely floored by how beautiful everything is. The space completely changes every time and it's so beautiful to see how the artists utilize their space. So instead of spending your day with shitty chocolates and horrible rom-coms, swing by the esker and appreciate the amazing talents. Click here for all the info on the Esker.

The Globe Cinema
What better way to spend the 14th than taking yourself to the movies. The Globe is one of my favorite theatres in Calgary and I promise it will become one of yours. With such an aazing selection of underground, indie, and foreign films, the options are endless. Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled on their show schedule. See all the amazing films coming up, not only on Valentine's Day, but for the rest of the Month of February. you won't be disappointed. Click right here for the full showtime list.

Wallow in Self-Pity.
Honestly this used to be my favorite option for Valentine's Day. And I hope you know there is nothing wrong with that! Recently separated from a partner? Feeling down about not having anyone to spend the 14th with? Don't let it get you down! But if you need to take a mental health/personal day, there is nothing wrong with that. Embrace the emotions and take care of yourself. Don't let anyone rush you through it.

Single and READY to Mingle (With Your Friends)
Nothing beats quality time with your closest friends. And nothing beats quality time with your closest SINGLE friends with some amazing movies/TV, lots of junk food and good laughs. Take it from me, spending Valentine's Day sitting on the sofa, watching Rupaul's Drag Race and eating junk food with your favorite people makes everything better. So call up your best Judy's, stop by the nearest grocery store and get your outTVgo account set up. (Seriously tho, it's only $4 a month. And I promise this is not sponsored. I actually just love the fact that I can watch seasons 2-9 and All Stars seasons 1-3 of Rupaul's Drag race right from my living room!) (I also don't have cable)

Most importantly: Have Fun!
Even though Valentine's Day can be a total downer on your ego, it doesn't mean that you can't have the most fun on your own. Remember that it's just another holiday, and that being single is better than being in a bad situation or unhealthy relationship. So ignore Mr or Mrs right. Enjoy yourself and to quote Rupaul, "If you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?" So remember to treat yourself right. Do what makes you happy and don't let a shit holiday get you down. Can I get an amen? And don't forget, all the chocolate and sweets get marked down on the 15th. So treat yourself.
