Spring | Summer inspirations

It's (almost) here! I never thought I'd say this, but I'm really looking forward to Spring/Summer this year. The warm weather seems so enticing after the horrible winter we've been having, but it's almost time to ditch the coats and I'm SO excited!
Fashion took a weird turn for me this season. It really left me feeling uninspired and unimpressed with the SS17 shopping season. I'm still gonna have to fight through and hope for the best... Lets pray that I can make my Spring/Summer 2017 looks work with the little inspiration I have.
I went back through the collections and picked 6 of my main focuses for the upcoming season (and what's in stores already). Obviously I'm fighting against the current trends that are out there, like I normally do, and am creating my own guide to follow. Feel free to take any of these ideas! Lets fight the 90s! #NotMyFashionTrend2017

Trend one: Monochromatic and oversized.
Inspiration: Martin Grant SS17

Wrap Shorts - Bless, Ruffle pocket blouse - Marni, Coat - Palm Angels, Hammock Bag - Loewe
Mules - Repetto

I really love mixing beige in the summer, so I've decided to continue that this year! I'm really excited to invest in more oversized pieces and create really interesting layers with each piece this season. I've really been inspired by prints lately, and I'm excited to start incorporating them into my style. So it's been a huge part of my spring goal. Mix in some prints with monochromatic outfits to create interesting texture.
Above I tossed together a sample look of how I'd take this trend. Of course there's links to the items right under if you're curious on creating this look for yourself!

Trend Two: Sleepwear is daywear
Inspiration: The Kooples SS17 Menswear

Pyjama Top - For Restless Sleepers, Pyjama Pants - For Restless Sleepers, Loafers - Gucci
Tote bag - Gucci

Okay so the Pyjama trend has been a HUGE favorite of mine. I'm currently getting a pair of pyjama pants altered to fit more like a cropped skinny trouser so I can wear them all summer long and look bomb as hell in an all black pyjama set.
I love this idea of making sleepwear daywear so I am embracing this trend with open arms! Of course I had to include one of my favorite brands in this outfit inspiration as well! For Restless Sleepers is honestly one of the coolest brands I've seen. Specializing in the most elegant sleepwear. Their SS17/FW17 collections were absolutely flawless. Obviously links above if you're curious to shop!

Trend three: Velvet isn't just for fall
Inspiration: Dondup SS17
Trench - Simone Rocha, Dress - The Row, Tote - Balenciaga, Shoes - Jil Sander

So when I say velvet isn't just for fall, I mean subtle pops of velvet. Like in the inspiration look above, I only included a pair of velvet shoes. Just a nice simple pop of the texture in an outfit is the perfect amount for the SS season. I don't think you'd want to overpower the velvet and end up sweating beyond belief in the summer heat, so I think that little pop, especially in accessories will be perfect for the warmer weather.

Trend four: Jumpsuits aren't just for the ladies
Inspiration: Fendi SS17 Menswear
Jumpsuit - Isabel Benenato, Sandals - Marsell, Glasses - Gentle Monster, Tote - Gucci, Umbrella - Alexander McQueen

Okay so I'm extremely hyped on the jumpsuit trend right now. I purchased one last fall and honestly I still wear it constantly cause it's amazing. And I definitely plan on bringing it out all summer!
I'm a huge fan of the simplicity in a jumpsuit. Though I have to admit, the bathroom trips SUCK in one. Still worth it though. I think for a jumpsuit style, it's always fun to play up the darkness of it. I decided to keep the inspiration for this one much darker, but also throw in a pop of colour cause ~fun~.

Inspiration: Jacquemus SS17

I know I said hats, but I had to include that straw hat bag because so precious.
Anywho, this is a trend I am FOR SURE taking advantage of... well actually I'm going to buy a wide brim straw hat today so I'm really hopping on this. I'm loving this style for spring and summer. I think it's the perfect alternative to the harder wool hats. I'm definitely excited to carry this trend into fall with some great dark tones. I have a pair of wide leg maroon trousers from Theory that would look GREAT with this trend... hmmm.

Trend Six: Schoolboy realness
Inspiration: Lemaire SS17 Menswear

Entire Look: Thom Browne, Socks - Opening Ceremony

This is probably my favorite trend this season. Schoolboy realness is what I'm calling it.
I have this obsession with 1920s private school uniform attire and I'm SO excited to bring it out as often as I can this summer. I wanna give little pageboy looks until the snow flies! So expect me to stock up on lots of shorts, lots of little blazers, and lots of striped socks... Thom browne anyone?

Well there we have it. A complete guide to what MY trends for SS17 are. Obviously you don't have to pay attention to me, I'm just a crazy bag-lady who is ready to wear whatever! There were no specific trend guides that I used for this. It's 100% my own take-away from the SS17 shows and what really stood out for me. Obviously teen vogue and everything else will tell you to stick with off-the-shoulder blouses and that sneakers and mom jeans are still the rage (puke)
